Good morning,
We never even bothered with the air mattress! We bought a queen size 4" memory foam mattress that we folded and put in the shower area when we were travelling. It was perfect. It took a few minutes to set up at night, but after a little while it becomes part of the routine. We placed the mattress on the plywood base and stored the cushions under the bed.
I sold my unit last October and bought a Georgetown simply becasue it was alittle too small for us and the kids. Otherwise, we really had no issues with the Axis.
