Is $99 worth it. We will traveling this winter to Tennessee, South North Carolina, New Mexico, Arizona
We bought a HH membership in 2020 (it's about to renew). Back then it was $79 rather than $99.

We decided to give it a try as we were about to take a trip from SLC, Utah to Charlotte, NC. It was our first long distance trip in the new Magnitude (who we immediately named Maggie), we weren't confident in finding boondocking spots along the way, and we wanted to avoid spending a bunch of cash in RV parks.

It worked out pretty well, all things considered. We stayed at a little junkyard bar in New Mexico, and an Air Force Museum in Oklahoma. We had planned to stay at a winery in Tennessee, but it ended up being too far out of our way and we just Crackerdocked instead.

We feel like the places we've stayed in the last year have probably paid for the membership, but we won't be renewing. Our reasons?

1. There are very few HH spots in the Intermountain West where we live.
2. As we've gotten comfortable with Maggie, we've relied on Campendium mainly to find boondocking spots and had great success.
3. A $20 price hike didn't help, although we could renew at the $79 rate for another year if I remember right.
4. Although their site and reservation system is better, it's still unwieldy, and I've been surprised a couple of times when calling places only to find they either don't welcome HH folks, or their restrictions or hours make it difficult to book.

We don't have anything bad to say about HH, but for us it ended up not being worth the membership.

Hope that helps.
