THE ARC IS IN!
Finally got the parts, got clearance to drill and got it up today. The metal problem turned out to be a wall stud...non-electrical in nature  .
 
I have attached two pictures showing the gain in space. I left the old curtains in to show the difference. Once the DW gets her shopping done we will have a new curtain for it.
It does clear the cabinet over the toilet.
On to the next MOD.
