I just read that on some Class C homes of this vintage that there is an outlet in the shore cord compartment that is powered from the generator and the shore cord must be plugged into this. Any info greatly appreciated.
1 - The generator DOES NOT supply "12v to the lights and refrigerator"; it supplies 120 VAC just like SP (lights and fridge control power will come from your house battery if no SP or generator). On a newer MH this is done through an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS); on older MHs this is done as you mentioned, by plugging your SP cable into an outlet in an outside compartment. You will have to determine if you have that setup. If not, then you will need to troubleshoot WHY you don't have 120 VAC supplied from the generator to the MH. Could be a loose connection, tripped breaker on the generator, or a bad ATS.
