Just to add a note: I have a 2016 model and the instructions on the slides are to open and close all the way. Not doing so can effect proper operation. 16' would do it. You would just have to make sure you are pulled under your carport in the right spot. I have tape on the driveway to guide me into mine. I just align the wheels with the tape.
