Ford recommends synthetic engine oil in the owners manual, at least for the 7.3L V8 which this thread is about. The oil must meet the newer WSS-M2C946-B1 specification (not older -A1)

What do you suggest I tell Ford when I ignore the dash oil change reminder running 15k miles between changes?

For some of us, 15k miles could take 2-3 years. Well past the annual required oil change requirement by Ford.
