only ever put about 1/4 of a tank of water in the thing anyway...

Wouldn't, since you were in there doing labor, cut back to a 25 gallon tank and pick up 9+cubic feet of storage?

If I were the type to worry about water weight I'm sure I'd be the type to worry about 200lbs of water sloshing in a corner/braking.
