I have the Garmin GPS 770 and it still works well if I keep it updated. Like everything else, they've come out with different models since but I never understood why. I guess they know there's a certain percentage of people (like cell phone buyers) that want the latest, greatest regardless. When Apple sales start to decline, they change the model number on their phone and the feeding frenzy begins. Just take the time to program the GPS correctly and always search/qualify other routes yourself. Famous mariner quote..."The Prudent Navigator Will Never Rely On A Single Source For Navigation".
