In 2012 or 2013, Thor made a design change to connect the radio to the house batteries rather than the vehicle batteries. My coach, a 2011 still has the radio connected to the vehicle battery.

I suppose it's half-dozen of one or the other. If the radio is connected to the vehicle battery and if you want to listen to the radio when setup at the RV park, then you risk running your vehicle's battery down.

That is why they re-wired the radio to the house battery as the theory is that the radio can then be used at the park and the battery will remain charged via shorepower.

And in the event of a dead battery (caused by the radio), I suppose it is better to have a dead house battery rather than a dead vehicle battery.

Of course, you can use the emergency start switch etc. to start the vehicle in case of a dead vehicle battery... so either way, I don't see a huge problem.

One of my projects for the future is to wire in a switch on the dash so I can switch radio power from the vehicle to house battery.
