The Marine industry has adapted NMEA2000 as a standard, like CompTIA allows your printer to talk to your router and computer. I am glad to see the RV Industry finally stepping it up.

CompTIA is an IT certification. It has nothing to do with communication standards. You may be thinking of UPnP which allows ethernet LAN devices to talk to routers for pass-through port configuration. But you don't need that for PC-Printer communication either.
