Found the 3/8" NPT fittings at SupplyHouse.com (on-line plumbing supply). Cut the pex, repurposed the existing fittings, changed out the housing mount - 20mins all in.

Works like a charm, and now I can actually change the filter without having to disassemble the entire setup.

Next, going to add a bypass, just didn't have the parts this weekend
