My recommendation:
Runt the pink stuff through the line until it comes out the ice maker and makes pink cubes. The shut off the ice maker valve and disconnect the water line.

I am not 100 percent certain about what caused my water solenoid to crack but I'll be extra attentive to the fridge this year.
