I needed to remove a few AC supply grills. I would advise checking the condition of the foil tape. I found it VERY lacking with one area that was a couple inches around allowing air to blow into the attic. This was in the bedroom area. I will now remove all the supply vents in the living area next. Smooth silver foil tape is what to use. Very easy to work with just pull apart with fingers.
I have pulled all our supply vents and only found one in the living area that was not sealed good. A couple of pieces of foil tape and it was good to go. I also went up on the roof and pulled the AC covers. I then pulled the cover off the supply side and found some areas in there were we were losing cold air into the attic. I was able to seal those up which has helped. I believe every little bit helps on these things.

Another area to check is the heater itself. Ours has easy access right behind the rear pass thru storage wall so I had my wife turn it on and I could feel a couple of places warm air was escaping on the unit and was able to seal those with foil tape.
