The answer to your questions is, it depends. 6 great comments so far, and I agree with most everything said.

My experience with diesels would suggest that they generally don't do well if you let them set too much. If you will be letting your RV set for extended periods, a gas engine can handle that better.

I support the comments about gently used rigs, with proper research and patience.

What is perfect for me might be all wrong for you. And what is right for me now wouldn't have been right for me at earlier life stages.

Before you let a RV salesperson grab your wallet, and you plunk down your $$$, try out a few rental units. That will help you sort out your preferences. It might seem pricey, but it might keep you from getting stuck with the wrong RV!
