When we purchased our trailer both doors slid into the pocket on the left. That was the problem. The wife had to reach in 31" to get her sewing machine among other things out of the left corner of the closet.

When the left door catch (piece of wood to keep it shut during travel) broke off, it was a blessing. The left door could move to the right and the wife could easily retrieve her belongings.

For us the above mentioned solution would be "over engineered", however I do understand not all have the same issues.

Another nice solution to the question asked.
