No washing machine hot water

When we had to replace our one-year-old Whirlpool washer we learned that the hot water faucet for the washer was not dispensing hot water, just cold. The washer/dryer is located in the half bath adjacent to the sink & toilet in the half bath.

Troubleshooting found that the water manifold valves did indeed control the flow to the devices; washer cold and hot specifically when activated on and off would shut off or turn on the water flow. Interestingly, when hot water flowed through the adjacent sink, hot water would flow through the hot line for the washer, until the sink hot supply was shut off, the washer would then run cold. The cold water has to be introduced somewhere between the manifold and the valve behind the washer.

Our unit is out of warranty and we have spent plenty of time at DRV having minor issues resolved. We had no idea what was occurring until the washer died.

We can easily wash our clothes without cold water, but would like the option to use hot water.

Thoughts??
