This factory update/fix is for the F53 with 6 speed transmissions.
I know there are many new motorhome owners on this site with the new Ford 6 speed transmissions. Just thought I would share this and hopefully help a few people put.
The tow haul feature on my new 2017 Hurricane 29m (built in March 2016) didn't seem to be working. When in tow haul mode if you tap the brakes the transmission is suppose to downshift. The more you tap the lower the transmission is suppose to downshift. My transmission was not doing this. I gave it a good test on my last trip a couple of weeks ago which was up to the mountains. No downshifting at all. Your brakes will not last if you don't use this feature.
SO I started to do a search and found this on IRV2.com If you want to read the thread yourself here it is

heres the Training Service Bulletin (tsb) for "tow haul on 2016 6 speeds inop"
TSB 16-0106
NO TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT IN TOW/HAUL MODE - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 6/20/2016
Publication Date: August 15, 2016
FORD: 2016-2017 F-53 Motorhome Chassis, F-59 Commercial Stripped Chass
ISSUE:
Some 2016-2017 F-53 Motorhome Chassis and F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine and built on or before 6/20/2016 may exhibit a no transmission downshift when descending a grade in Tow/Haul mode.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. dealers must have a
IDS update of 101 or later and it involves a reprogram of ecm/tcm .
I call my local Ford commercial truck center and the service guy said he heard about it but didn't know much about it. He said the techs knew all about it. He also said there would be no charge because my mh was still under warranty. Many guys on IRV2.com has had the update and they say it takes less than an hour to do. They saw immediate results even on flat street driving. And no one has paid for this. Ford should cover the cost.
Important to note. Make sure the service tech has his IDS computer updated to at least 101. The service guy I talked to said their IDS computors get updated twice a week so it shouldn't be a problem but worth asking the tech about.
I plan to take my mh to the dealer this Thursday. I'll post what happens after I return home. Hopefully I'll have good news.
