Getting New Vegas Ready For First Trip
We purchased a new Vegas 25.3 on December 2, and have spent most of December getting things ready for our first big trip. We are leaving Kentucky on the morning of the 27th, driving straight through (three drivers) to San Francisco via I40 to Los Angeles and then up I5 to SF. Five days in SF and then back home.
For the return it will be just the Mrs and me, so things will be a lot slower. We plan on three days down the Pacific Coast Highway to Los Angeles, and then fourteen days (or more) for the return via Route 66 all the way to St Louis.
In preparation for the first long trip, the following has been done...
(some of this is from prior motorhome)
1. Front end alignment
2. Safe-T-Plus steering damper
3. Heavy Duty Hellrig sway bars front and rear
4. A TireMinder system
5. A Valtera sewer hose carrier mounted underneath
6. A Flow-Rite battery fill kit
7. A set of auxiliary LED backup lights mounted under rear bumper
8. New hose and water filter and pressure valve for fresh water
9. New sewer hose and attachments as needed, box of latex gloves
10. 30 Amp dogbone inline circuit analyser and a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter, coax for cable hookup
11. Atlas, GPS, and a printed copy of Ed's manual (Thanks Ed!!)
12. Electric heater, hand tools, supplies (duct tape, WD-40, etc), portable air compressor
And I hope to finish installing a full-time rear view wireless camera system before we leave.
But I still keep feeling like I've forgotten or omitted something important...so my question to all of you is...
What have I missed?
and
What are your Route 66 recommendations?
