There are two benefits here. The accumulator tank has an air bladder that smooths out water pulsation when using the pump, especially when a faucet is only partially open. The vinyl tubing of course connects everything but it also dampens sound vibrations to make the pump quieter. The blue rigid plastic tubing Thor uses transmits sound really well, the vinyl doesn't.
