In my 2014 Vegas it was connected to both. The wire to the chassis battery provided power to the clock and memory functions, while the wire to the coach batteries ran the radio. I put a switch the chassis battery wire in to turn it off and you are correct, it is a substantial drain. If you have the radio booklet it shows you the two wires and their colors. Not hard to splice in a small switch.
