My military MOS was transportation. In 8 weeks we were taught to not only drive everything from truck-tractor trailers to buses to jeeps, but we learned to do intensive pre-trip inspections. Pre-trip inspections wasn't just check the oil and kick a tire or two. On a military 2 1/2 ton truck for example it would take almost an hour to complete and would involved going underneath and checking every suspension bolt for tightness, etc.
I obviously don't do this type of inspection every morning before leaving a camp ground. However at least twice a year I spend a couple of hours crawling over the entire rig inspecting and torqueing everything I can get to. It is amazing how many bolts need a 1/4 turn or how many wires need secured. Doing this keeps me familiar with my RV plus may head off a problem before it causes a breakdown.
