It seems that .300 (a little more than 1/4") is all you can squeeze in there or else there won't be enough threads on the stud for the nut to grab.
That got rid of the bad angle on my seats and did not effect the swivel function at all .

Picked up the Vegas from storage on Sunday. First project was to get back to the seat. I took petew's advice and raised the front with 3 washers on each side. The seat already feels better. We will be taking a trip the next few weekends and I will report back. Here are some pictures of the mod. Thanks again
