I have a 2014 34E, and the HVAC knob on the dash works to divert the air flow properly to the cab section only.
There are big narrow floor vents in front of each seat at the firewall for the "floor" settings. The defroster air goes up to the windshield in front of the dash. And, the ac/vents on the dashboard work like they should.
