Click on the link I provided: it asks if you have carpet or vynl (I wonder if they put a backing on the ones for vynl).

I think my F-250 had a plastic insert in the carpet and it fit fine right over it. In addition, on the newer trucks the driver's side mat has a pop up latch that holds it in place.

These are also large and form fitting--there really isn't any room for them to slide around (the ones I had went a good 2" up the sides of the foot well there).
