I have the exact same problem.

The TV in the living area of my Hurricane will flicker on and off and then when on, the sound is intermittent and the bottom of the screen is scrambled.

Problem: Thor had the HDMI cable smashed in on a 100 degree angle to the back of the TV, which damaged the cable. (Funny, there are 2 other HDMI ports that would have prevented this) I found this by hooking up the DVD player directly to the TV with another cable and the problem disappeared. I have three other TV's going to the box and all work fine.

I purchased a new HDMI cable online and it also solved the problem from the box to the TV. Now I have to wait for warm weather to try to wire the replacement where the old one is. This could be your problem as well. Good luck!
