Given the differences between Ford's quality and Thor's quality in general I would suspect that it is not the switch at the brake pedal (that would most likely be Ford's responsibility).

Thinking on this further: Have you tried the turn signals or the emergency flashers? If it doesn't flash for either of those I would suspect the wiring to the lights.

Another way to check the brake switch at the pedal is to get an OBD-II interface and watch for the brake switch input (On Ford's I believe its called "BOO"). Since the switch goes to a module then the signal is sent out on the CAN bus.
