yeah, generally speaking I have to agree about wildlife and just getting outside as opposed to theme parks and such. Finding something like that....or sometimes even better something even less organized and structured than a zoo type thing can be good too.
actually swimming in a spring
finding a place to kayak maybe
and not just at some beach or high trafficked controlled & sterile place either
getting out of the kayak and into the wild marsh, for example, where they can experience raw nature can be eye opening and fun. It opens a sense of adventure in self discovery...what I mean is don't tell them where they are going or what they will see, just go for a boring paddle & let them find that tidal pool full of life and creatures all on their own....
