I'll try on and see if my wife can take pictures I'm out of town on a business trip. From underneath​ you should be able to see the springs one on each side moving the footrest you can see how it works and mine had different holes I picked one that would put less tension pushing it open
I think that was the problem once you pull the cord to open it it pops out really hard and fast and it wants to keep it open
