I understand your concerns.
I looked very long at capacity and specifications before I bought Vegas. The hitch is rated 8000 Lb/500 Lb max tongue. For 4 down towing, that is fine. I tow an open racecar trailer 5500 Lbs. Considering the weight of Vegas, close to 13K it tows fine at lighter tongue weight.
I don't feel Thor misrepresented info though there is major room for disapointment without careful inspection.
