Hurricane owners question

Folks, wanted to check the air cleaner on my 2014 34e. AC is mounted directly in front of the engine. The AC housing appears to be ford OEM but mounted in a metal tray. 3 clips across front are easy access but appears hose to engine must be dis-connected to access element.
Question is does hose only need to be disconnected at AC box top or disconnected at engine (under floor access panel inside) at the intake to be inspected?
Anyone inspected AC themselves? I have 15000 miles and thought might be a good idea. Thx.
