I've had a similar idea..... seems like a cool idea, but I figure just a standard camera might be misleading.
it would have to be installed perfectly level with the roof
but then driving on a slope would give you misleading perspectives
seems like you would need a cross-hair of sorts to help orient the picture

Surprised something's not on the market already
