It isn't likely that using the microphone would blow the radio fuse.

According to the Axis/Vegas wiring diagram (see post 153, page 8, Axis/Vegas Mods) there is a sub panel containing three fuses, one of which is the fuse for the radio. I have no idea where the box is located. It is identified as "12 volt at front distribution box".
