Secondly, I replaced a lock because of a broken slide about a year ago. The one I replaced had the red handles, my new one has the black. That is the only visible change I see between the two pictures. No packaging left around here any more. Would the stronger model have a slide that is magnetic? Is that a definitive test?

The recommended slide lubricant is CRC Power Lube High Performance Lubricant with PTFE
available from Amazon. I also use it to lube my door locks/hinges.
