Winter driving

I'm from Michigan and it's getting that time of year.
Often in January or February I see motor homes driving down the highway either coming or going. Being a first time owner I have to ask those of you who travel northern roads in the winter, how do you get the salt off your rig before you put it back to bed for a while ?
I'd love to leave the cold for a month in the winter, but I can't get a wash job on my Challenger because of temps.
