We also tow using a dolly. It is not an issue when camping as it fits mostly under the rear of the motorhome when parked.

We chose a dolly based on the vehicles being towed - they couldn't be towed 4 down. We used to tow a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 down behind our previous motorhome and both methods have their pros and cons.

Generally towing 4 down is more expensive (tow bar, baseplate, lighting, braking, etc.) but easier to work with. Towing via dolly is simpler in cost but can be more time consuming both setting up and breaking down. Yes, dollies support towing many different vehicles but they have to be stored and can be heavy or difficult to move around.

It is a matter of preference and requirements. Neither option is bad.
