I changed out the switches to the pull chain type I got at Home Depot. I epoxy glued a PVC extension to the knob. I used a piece of 1 inch PVC pipe and painted it to match. Now it is better suited for the vertically challenged.

I thought about doing something similar. Maria is 5"2" I'm 6'4". After thinking about it I decided not to do it. I know I would hit my head on whatever I extended down. So now I just turn on the fan for her..
I would like to put I switch on the wall but feeding the wires down could be a pain. Not worth the effort.
