Quick FIX: Make sure your Thor Class C/B Chassis is registered with the Chassis MFG

Quick FIX: Make sure your Thor Class C/B Chassis is registered with the Chassis MFG for these two reasons:
1. Chassis Warranty work.
2. NTSB.gov recalls.

Read on….

Per Page 4 of the "Thor Motor Coach Warranty Guide" TMC Part Number 0391818 Revision Date 2017-Q2, the dealer you purchased your new (or slightly used RV) from, has a responsibility: "It is the selling dealership's responsibility to register the chassis with the appropriate manufacturer." (see page 4 attachment).

When you buy a new RV or one that might still have chassis warranty time available, it behooves you to call a Ford/Freightliner/Chevy/or Sprinter dealer's service department to verify that the chassis VIN has been registered and the warranty is in effect....AND....what the warranty covers and its expiration date(s).

You do not want to be out on the road and have a breakdown and find out that the chassis warranty was never "turned on".

I bought a 2018 second hand unit from Camping World Chattanooga on 9/27/17 that had 4080 miles on it and was originally purchased new on 6-18-17. Thus, I was pretty sure it still had chassis warranty time left. I called a Mercedes-Benz dealer and he looked up the warrant information via the VIN and said that unit was still setting on a dealer’s lot in Mishawaka, IN and there was NO Warranty currently registered for that VIN. OUCH!

So the dealer failed to register the Chassis at original purchase by the first owner.
NOTE: If you buy a slightly used RV from an individual, it is YOUR responsibility to get the Chassis registration verified and updated with your contact information.

I kept "bugging" the dealer to register the chassis and they may have eventually done so, but HERE IS A BETTER/Quicker/Easier way:

Page 5 of the aforementioned document states that when you buy a new/used Thor RV that you need to send an email to registrations@tmcrv.com (see attachment). This is so the Thor warranty can apply to the second owner for the rest of that one year….but ALSO so that the ntsb.gov can get to you if a safety recall is issued.

Well that email is actually processed by one (very nice and helpful) Tracy Paulus at Thor MC. Tracy gave me permission to post her name on the Thor Forum. Call 877-855-2867 and get to an operator and ask for Tracey. Tracy has access to the databases mentioned in the page 4 attachment and can get you chassis registered immediately while you are on the phone with her....IF she already has proof via the registrations@tmcrv.com that you are the new owner.

My advice: Bypass the Dealer and call Tracy. Boom, it's done.
