On the Palazzo I had before, I had a similar dinette table. They had installed table latches, but they used to always break and the table would slide. The install was not aligned right. In my case, when the table slid it did not hurt anything because the couch was across from it. I ended up having to replace the latches, which was a tough install because of the location of the latches and trying to get them into the location where they were. This is what the latches looked like.

It could have been a double latch though, as you get old you forget about things in the past.
