I have been reading a lot on his site, and would have to say that I am glad that I am not the only person with my CrossRoads Sunset Trail 31 BH. Our trailer is 6 weeks old, and every weekend we have issues, safety issues. My hot water tank wouldn't work, moved the trailer than it worked, and has been working since. I assume a electrical short? Dealer didn't know what to do, then my LPG alarm insid the trailer was going off, light and audible, dealer blamed it on a scotch lock connector behind the LPG monitor, this weekend at 1AM the same thing. LPG leak with audible and light going off.

This is getting old very fast, do I continue to "Cry Wolf", or do I just leave I alone. I would assume that there is a leak since I go through a 20 pound cylinder of LPG gas in 2 days. My families safety is of utmost importance, and the Dealer has stated that they did a leak down test and all was well. I am continuing to take it to the dealer, leaving camp sites early to make sure that my family is safe, not getting reimbursed by anyone because I choose to leave early they tell me.

I would assume that the one time I don't take the necessary precautions will be the time that something bad happens, but I also keep getting told that things short out. I think my next stepmis going to be a attorney to settle all these issues. This is our first trailer, love the trailer, but hate the issues. I have been told to call Randy Mischler, anyone have his number for me, would be appreciated.

LPGdetectors can be triggered by almost any flammable vapor. These would include paints, solvents, hair spray and fuels to name a few. False alarms can be minimized by keeping these substances away from your detector. They can also be triggered by low voltage to the detector & of course the unit itself could just be defective.

earlier this summer, somehow a burner on the stove got turned on.. After being in bed for an hour or so I got up for a drink of water and I could smell the propane in the kitchen but for some reason our LP detector couldn't detect it. Not sure how long the lp was leaking... but it was at least over an hour.
Maybe mine is defective.....

Thank You for the response, they had already told me about all that, by my issue is with the LP Gas. I have to think there is a leak since I go through so much of the LP Gas. I would hate not to have things checked, or fixed by any means. We have a. 4year old daughter, and I would assume that if the thing does start on fire it would go up quickley. The alarms always seem to be at night, and when taken to the dealer they always find something else wrong. Any advice would be appreciated very much.

Between electrical shorts our trailer and they already replaced the monitor once. What are the odds of getting 2 defective monitors? I am glad that you caught your stove situation, that could have been very bad.

I don't understand why they are continuously finding issue when I bring it in, evident ally there are issues, whenever I take it in they always find something else wrong. I am just not sure when to say yes my family is at risk, verses no big deal, found a short or replaced the monitor itself.

If you are using the furnace, you will burn through a tank of gas pretty fast. Have them check the voltage to that circuit &to check the continuity on both wires, positive & negative. It doesn't take much resistance on DC voltage, to lower the voltage & if something else comes on that circuit, it could drop the voltage.

maybe your leak is in the regulator. I had mine replaced this year... it was leaking thru the seam where the 2 pieces of housing join together. And after having my unit for a week I could always smell LP around the tanks. after a soap and water test I found out that the pigtails didn't have any pipe dope on them where they connect to the regulator.

Thank you for the quick reply. Believe it or not they have never checked that regulator yet. I use the fireplace all the time to keep the cost of LPG down, but I still use 20 pounds in a day or so. It does not make sense. My biggest issue is since this continues to happen, who am I to make a decision that this is just another issue and there is nothing to worry about, when I have my wife and 4 year old daughter in there sleeping.

The one time I make that decIsion it will be an issue and things, major things can happen to my family. I just couldn't live with that.

Turn off the propane and see if it still goes off overnite. If not start looking for the leak. Start by turning off both tanks, wait several hours and turn on a stove burner with a lighter next to it. If there are no leaks there will be a puff of gas that can be seen as it tries to light. If no puff there is a leak. Turn off the water heater and retest, then the heater, then the stove any order you choose. They all should have cutoff's.



You said the dealer did a leak-down test, how long did he watch it? That's very low pressure.

When the dealer did the leak down test he said if it didn't drop in three minutes all is well.

20lbs for a weekend seems like a lot. Last year we camped over 60 nights and I used just over a 30lb for the whole season. But I also use electric when ever possible.

Just for sake of your own information, I would also confirm that your tanks are truly filled by whoever is filling them to 20 lbs.

Some of those exchange places have 15lbs, 17lbs and 18lbs in 20lbs tanks.

Thank you for your response. I also use my fireplace whenever possible, may as well use the campgrounds electric instead of. My LPG. this is just a terrible situation, only had this unit around 4 or so weeks, it's been at he dealer more than at my own house.

Just to throw this out there... Your oven pilot light isn't on along with leaving your fridge in the gas mode or using any gas grills off your trailer tanks?

No, I make sure the gas is turned off when we aren't there, I close it at the tanks. The fridge automatically switches to electric once I am plugged in, and the outside grill is always turned off at the valve under the trailer.

I know that CW has a hand held propane gas leak detector that you run along the lp lines. It maybe worth the investment to purchase one and check your rig for your family's safety. Here's one from Amazon that is real similar.
