I’m new to RVing and was wondering about leveling. We’re going on our first trip next weekend and would like to know if it’s necessary to level it and if so, when and where. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes and raise whatever corners are low. If you don’t have leveling jacks buy the Lego blocks or use lengths of 2x6

I had a bag of Lynx blocks leftover from the trailer... I crushed several of them before I decided they are not structurally strong enough for our class C.

The first season, I cut a bunch of PT 2x6 into one and two foot lengths. They're heavy and take up precious storage space... they also slid frequently on slick surfaces, which was frustrating.

So next I bought a rubber stall mat at Tractor Supply - nearly indestructible - and cut it into pieces like I did the lumber. Using those under the boards completely stopped the slipping, but the storage took yet another hit.

Finally bit the $3,000 bullet last spring and had Big Foot hydraulic leveling installed. MUCH simpler... but I still occasionally take a stack of 6 one foot square stall mats for extreme off-level situations - frequent in the mountains. A couple under the lowest leveling jacks gives them a little more lift.

So where can I go to learn how to level it.

There are many YouTube videos out there. There are also web page "blogs" and articles explaining the process in great detail. Leveling all vehicles with 4 wheels (or 6 if it's go duallies in the rear :)) is essentially the same.

If you think about it, when unlevel, you have ONE wheel that's higher than the rest. The goal is to raise the other three to be the same height as that one.

Or... there could be two wheels that are higher. You then raise the two that are lower.

Do a Google search for "How to level a motorhome"... or search YouTube. Then go out and practice!! :thumb:

Found some good videos. Not as hard as I thought it was going to be. Many thanks for the help.

Levelling is important for some systems to work properly. The refrigerator is an important one that needs to be close to level to work.

The only way to learn to level it is with experience. If you have levelers that shouldn’t take long. If you are like me and have to use the Lego blocks that can take a few more tries. So you either learn at a campsite or you find random parking places that are out of level and practice.
