Hello.

First post here. Parents purchased a
2014 Axis 24.1. The slide moved out just fine when they got to their space. Last week, we wanted to bring the slide in, and the switch wouldn’t work.

Parents called a service place. They came out, and said the switch was faulty. During this time, I wasn’t down at the RV.

I decided to come down there and troubleshoot myself. I thought since the switch was faulty, I could simply short out the common (12v), and the retract wire. Nothing happened.

I made sure the parking brake was set. I double-checked the emergency brake switch as well, since I read up on the interlock mechanism.

I went ahead and decided to short it out directly on the controller. If there was going to be an error, I would be able to see it. When I shorted it out (12v + Ret), it moved a little, and then went silent. No error codes. I then touched the Ext side, and it started to bring in the slide. I made sure it finished, as well as wait for 3 seconds, then I removed the jumper cable. The controller is working fine, and has adequate amperage to work with.

I decided to move both micro switches up, so the direction would coincide with the writing on the controller.

Back at the monitor panel, I did check the voltage on the common leg, which produced 12 volts.

It seems like the issue is between the monitor panel, and the controller.

I checked the fuses/breakers in the BCC. I replaced both house batteries. I am stumped.

The repair guy took the switch, and ordered a replacement. It came in, and it doesn’t fit. I ordered one off of Amazon, and it also doesn’t fit.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I should look next? Also, does someone know the part # on that switch? I returned home, and forgot to look at the generator switch. It’s identical to the slide.

Thank you for taking the time and possibly offering your assistance.

Call Thor MC CS and with your VIN ask for a part number for the slide switch on the master control panel. My guess the switch is not sourced individually, but as a completer panel..

'The repair guy took the switch, and ordered a replacement...It seems like the issue is between the monitor panel, and the controller..'

I am confused.
Knowing it's not the switch
Your repair guy ordered a switch and you knowing it's not the switch again ordered a switch?

Where is the switch you removed?

Above is just an example.
Without measurements OR THE CODE ON THE SIDE OF THE SWITCH we can't help you find the switch.

Consider swapping the overhead- bed switch for the missing(?) slide switch. They're the same switch.
THEN you can leisurely look for a replacement switch for the bed.
We find our bed to be useless.
If our bed was inop it wouldn't be a priority like the slide would be.

I doubt the switch is the same one as the generator switch. Switches may look identical but operate completely different electrically.

I would go back and recheck at the switch level. Make sure the parking brake is set and that the RV is off. Then Remove the switch and verify again that you have 12 volts going to the switch. Now remove the extend and retract wires from the switch and try to both retract and extend the slide by manually jumping from the hot wire to the extend and retract wire. You've already verified that the controller works If the slide does not move, your problem is not the switch. Its the wiring between the switch and the controller.

I just had a similar issue but not sure it would apply to the 2014 year. I have a 2018 24.1. While getting ready for an upcoming trip I was testing functions and found that my slide did not work at all. I tried all the controller testing and other ideas but nothing worked. It seemed that the controller was getting power as the lights worked when I performed the reset procedure. It just seemed that the motors were not getting power. Then I thought of something that maybe, just maybe an outside chance could be the problem. I recently had a CO-LP monitor alarm failure so I pulled the fuse (#7, 5A on the DC panel but not sure the 2014 has the same) to silence the alarm until I could replace the alarm. Even though Fuse #10, 30A is for the Slide Motor Power per the labeling on the fuse panel, I thought why not put the fuse for the alarm back in and see if the slide then works. That did the trick! Why the slide control/power is tied to the alarm circuit, only Thor can answer. So it may be worth a look to see if you have any other fuses blown. Good luck!

OP probably figured it out and since it's not his RV he doesn't care to fill us in on the solution. I would venture that out of all the Thor owners out there only a small percentage even know this site exists. Of those that do, a large percentage never tell us the answer to their problem.

I had a similar problem as the OP, but I found the circuit breaker in the driver's side front compartment that I had to push to reset. Voila, problem solved. I have many frustrations with my Vegas, but chasing wiring issues isn't one of them. Next on my list (and it seems to grow on it's own)... removing the ancient sealant and Eternabonding the seams, along with replacing all the vent covers with ones that allow the vent to be opened while driving... then I'll tackle the radio. Personally, I'd rather shoot the radio, but I think that's frowned upon. :whistling:
