Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 2015 Axis 24.1 on the E350 chassis. Although I have owned Trv Trl's since 1978 I'm new to the Motorhome world. I would like to add a spare tire and wheel. Does anyone know the ford part # for the wheel or possibly the wheel specs. Or any info that would help me purchase the wheel from a source other than a Ford dealer.

Thanks

If you go to the ford parts site you can enter your VIN and get the Ford part number for the wheel and possible the wheel specs. You should then be able to do a crosswalk from Ford to other manufacturers.

Paul,

Please keep us posted as to what you find out as far as part numbers and where are you going to put the spare. I too have been thinking of getting one for my Vegas.

Congrats on your Axis. This place is becoming the real Axis/Vegas owners club! LOL

Doc, I looked up my order and it was a reconditioned wheel no.STL03872USTL03872U50 Steel Wheel, Rim 16x6 - 3872-Reconditioned OEM - Bright White Full Face Painted $69.92

It looked almost new to me and I made sure it would fit. All 6 wheels are the same. Before ordering online, I tried all over our county at dealers and parts yards for a used wheel, but none could to be found.
Shipping cost was about $23. I was charged tax also due to the warehouse being about 60 miles away in FL. No store front though.
Not sure about the E350 Super Duty and the E350 being different. IIRC, there seems to be a few different wheels on the E350, especially when dealing with duals and had to check and double check for correct size and fit.

Thanks. I'm going to put an order in tomorrow for one.

I called Ford and all they hadto say was 16X6 steelwheel.

Thanks again.

Thanks guys, Lots of good info here. I’m looking at buying the STL03872U50 that MCR mentioned in his post. The price is right at $69 + shipping. Funny when I ran my VIN # in the ford parts search it came back as E350 Super Duty wheel part # 1007B at $423.23. But when I ran a google search on that part # all I got was the Ford website.

I plan on buying a dual receiver extension and putting a receiver mount spare tire carrier on the top tube and my bike rack in the lower tube.

Paul,

When you get that receiver and mount done how about taking a picture...I am trying to envision how far out the tire will be from the body of the Vegas if I come off the rear hitch. That way when I get a toad, I can just put the Vegas's spare off the hitch on the toad!

I sent an email to Thor requesting their opinion as to whether or not the rear panel would support a bolted on spare tire mount. Rest assured I will not be drilling any holes until after the 12/12 Thor warranty has expired.

Also, if I go that way I plan to bond a 1 sq ft plate to the outside and a 4 sq ft plate to the inside for support and to maintain a waterproof seal.

The pictures might help. Why not just leave the spare tire on the top tube and put the toad on the lower tube. 4 down or dolly? This one is for 4000 lbs. but I'm sure you could find a 5000 lbs. if you looked around.

Thanks. I saw that hitch online, that is a good idea to use the top for the spare and the lower for the toad.

The hitch shown online for a spare tire appears to have a mounting plate with about a 30 degree tilt backwards towards the backside of the RV. I just wonder how far away from the RV the tire will be.
