Hello,

I am trying to find out if there are other ACE owners that have had the same electrical issues as myself. We purchased our RV used and had electrical issues with the rig when we would take it out. Multiple times the AC, and microwave would not work.
Eventually (after a lot of investigation) I found that my electrical wiring was burnt where the wires come up into the transfer box under the bed. Wire nuts were completely melted.
My wife and I found an electrician with a 2016 model at a campsite that had the same issue. Was informed that the wiring was not hardwired into the panel, but instead had a wire nut with a pig tail on every single wire coming in, which was creating a ton of resistance. My wife smelled burning plastic on 2 occasions, luckily our rig and bed did not catch on fire. I corrected this issue, but now have recently found out that due to this electrical issue it burnt our generator up.
Again, anyone else had these issues?
Does anyone know of a lawsuit against Thor for this?

Many people have had issues with the wire nut connections at the ATS and the water heater.

Why do you think your generator is "burnt up"? The generator has output breaker(s) that prevent overload of the generator. The wirenuts don't cause overloading anyway, they cause heat in a high resistance connection .

Generator stopped working and after numerous attempts to fix it myself I took it to a cummings repair shop and they informed me that there was burnt wiring throughout the inside of generator and fried stater, rotor and plug.

Were ou informed by them supplying you pictures of such?

Is your interest in joining a class-action or in finding a repair?

We can help with a repair once you post the invoice and diagnosis from whoever told you it was
'Burnt up'.

I'm all but positive either they lied or you're misunderstanding.

Hmm, how did they 'see' burnt wiring etc inside the unit without removing & disassembling it?

You gotta ask yourself: "Self. Why would burnt windings in the rotor and/or stator prevent the engine from starting?".

I would assume the spark plug was the first thing you checked?

Damaged generator would prevent the engine from running (loss of frequency sensed by the controller), but not prevent it from starting.

There are few wiring standards for RVs, wire nuts are required for the floor workers to fulfill their task on the production line. Thor MC plant 750 produces 75% of the Thor MC class A coaches or about 12 a production day. I toured the factory in 2016 about 7 months after I bought my coach. The rumor was the floor workers had just received the 2014 coach model year bonus of about $1.30 per hour worked in 2014 because warranty cost were less than budgeted. Your coach was warrantied for 90 day against water intrusion, 1 year for house problems and 5 years for chassis problems. The Onan RV generator warranty (3 years) is by Cummins and not Thor MC Recalls for safety concerns on Thor MCs can be found online.

I haven't visited Thor MC plant 750 factory since 2019 (with grandson in tow), but at that time they were building what the dealers wanted at the desired price. All coaches are paid in full by the dealer before they leave the plants delivery lot behind the factory. So the dealer gets what he payed for or else they would not be a Thor MC dealer for very long.

Very interesting history. Thank you. I was trying to wrap my head around the stickers inside that suggest Ford built (most/all?) the core stuff "the important stuff" and kicked it to Thor to put the plastic in.

Here is what a picture of Detroit Chassis assembles for FOMOCO. Ford designs and warranty's the striped chassis (E-350 and F-53), but does not assembly them The stripped chassis are shipped by rail to MorRyde in Elkhart where they are modified for the Thor MC factories. No Thor MC plant is certified to modify the Ford frame in any way. MorRyde has the required Ford certifications to drill, weld, lengthen or shorten Ford frame, as well to lengthen or shorten the drive shaft if needed. So, you will end up with a different modified chassis for Plant 750, 35 ft, 22,000 lb GVWR when compared to a Plant 850, 35 ft, 22,000 lb GVWR chassis.

That'd be a good pushin' engine up Pike's Peak.
