Decided to undertake this project since I’m replacing the Captain seats and have access. The dash was loose and crooked and I just wanted to make it solid and hopefully more quiet.

I’ve removed the front and top dash. The wood support that projects outward needs reinforcing and the plywood base isn’t even secured to the steel frame.

Wondering about removing the base and seeing if some spray foam insulation would be in order. Also going to tidy up all the wiring harnesses and the wiring I added to power my Haloview monitor and TPMS that are mounted on the dash.

But wanted to get some ideas for anything else I should consider doing while I have torn apart. Go crazy. Let me hear your ideas.

As much kilmat as you can afford...
Then buy more.

Every surface, both sides.

Man! That is some dash dis-assembly. I am sure when reassembled it will be much more organized and properly assembled than from the factory. I don't think I can anything specific to your project excpt document what you find with the wiring, so you KNOW where to look if something craps out in the future.

Got the base off. Easy since 2/3 of screws and fasteners were sheared. Never noticed that there was no sound barrier under the flat area of the dash and that the voids were empty. Going to apply Kilmatz to underside and stuff voids with insulation to prevent them from being boom boxes.
Any value and double layers of Kilmatz?
Also going to cover the area ahead of the doghouse and HVAC fan box with Kilmatz. The doghouse is already covered.

The stereo installer youtube guys have charts about double and triple mat.
I did put some kiln liner in some spots due to heat. A squat-ton of heat comes in at the right side of your accelerator foot.
I've installed on most of the belly of the 24.1
That thin belly pan on my 24.1 probably acted like an echo enhancer.
I also used it when enclosing the coach battery box because it was a source of a lot of noise.
I even wrapped the air filter housing.

I have enough to line the front cap where I think the tires resonate.

I'm not entirely convinced it works well in all circumstance but it is satisfying to use and easy...so there's that.
