Good morning. Looking for some advice on a plug and play radio for the current stock radio with side and back up cameras, that came new in the 2017 Thor Miramar, double din.

Thanks

I suspect for a 'plug & play' replacement you'll need to search for the exact same model you have now. Maybe a different model from the same manufacturer might connect the same?

Otherwise, double DIN is a standard size for many radios. The harness connectors are unlikely to be the same and even the camera connectors may be different. I got an adapter for the camera inputs when I swapped out the original Jensen radio for a Kenwood radio in our ACE. Re-doing the harness connectors was not hard - just follow the wire diagrams. If that is not something you are able to do, contact a shop that installs automobile radios. It would be a simple job for them. But it is likely they'd want you to buy the radio from them (at full retail) vs the lower prices you might find at Amazon or Crutchfield.

Same advice everybody else gets that asks that same question. Model of RV is irrelevant.

Get what you want in features in a double DIN form factor with a backup camera input. The cameras are switched externally.

The chances that you get a "plug-n-play" replacement is very slim unless you replace it with a model from the same or parent manufacturer (Axerra or Dual) but wiring a new radio is not difficult or expensive at an audio shop.

Agree with all your answers. Available replacements are quite extensive. Prices range from $200-$2000. Choose your screen size, features, from where, and who will install.
Basic skills are all that is needed for installing.

Not sure of your radio, but one issue I ran across is my new head unit had a different mounting bracket than the Axxera I am replacing. The Axxera had a full 2Din bracket that radio slides into and locks into place. My new radio uses a different system that isn’t really compatible with the way the dash is designed, for my liking anyway. However, the new radio fits very tightly into the old bracket and is difficult to pull out or push the in so I can still use it.
Just something to consider when looking all your options.

I bought a double din unit for the polaris ranger so mapping would ALWAYS be on and not just when we remember to turn on our bread crumb programs in our phones.

It isn't really a double din.
It's only about 1/2" deep and has an adapter. The whole double din hole is empty.

$73 today. Normally $99.

About plug and play.
My original thor radio leads were a mishmash of cuts and splices and wrong colors and sizes and twist fasteners and even had a ten guage wire spliced in for something or another. It all worked just fine.

It is NOW universally wired but you might have to perform a surgery to make it universal.

Looks like $90 right now with the 10% coupon.

The Axerra radios are garbage - I would not replace it with the same model as the original. I was kinda glad when mine died after just 18 months and I was forced to replace it. I end up rage-throwing tools when installing radios in cars, so I took it to a local audio place and told them I wanted a radio with decent sound, Apple Car Play, and I needed to view my camera while driving. They suggested a fairly popular Kenwood model - $400 installed. I'm a fan of Kenwoods, so I said yes and have been happy ever since. When it comes to in-dash stereos, RV radios are the same as any auto radio; we just need to ensure it can utilize the camera.

2017 Thor Miramar radio

Hi. I am planning on updating the radio in my 2017 Thor Miramar. Does anyone know the challenges and what to look out for, when I buy a new radio?

Thank you

I replaced the Jensen radio with a Kenwood. As far as I could determine there are no Plug & Play options or wiring harness adapters for our RVs (unless you replace it with the same model radio). So, it took some studying of the radio's wire color codes and the RV's wire harness to identify which wires should connect to where. And the camera inputs were not the same either so I got an adapter for that. None of this would likely be difficult for any custom auto audio shop but that'd probably lighten your wallet noticeably.

Some info on my swap here: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/kenwood-radio-camera-question-37304.html

I also added some speakers to the cab/dash area. The originals were in the ceiling and well behind the cab area. See: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/used-ace-radio-problems-37276.html

Single din radio- Three cameras

Hi. I have a 2017 Thor Miramar. I am replacing the current double din radio with a new Pioneer DMH-W3000NEX single din, unit fits nicely. Will I have any issues hooking up my three cameras, back up camera and both blinker cameras? I have a camera input switching box?, or is a double din required?

Thank you

No. The head unit doesn't care how many cameras you have on the coach, it will just display whatever the switcher sends it when the A/V input is activated.
