Hello,
I picked up this unit that needs a few fixes. The Jenson radio doesn't appear to work.

Thor got me a replacement model
Jenson replacement radio: 0388789 RADIO, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, DBL DIN, TOUCH SCREEN, BLUETOOTH, AM/FM

But think I'd like to put something better in it if possible. I do see it has some alarm features which not sure I care about.

Curious as to what others have done.

Also, while I'm asking, the actual touch screen that controls the lights, heat, air, slides etc. Anybody know how to get a replacement or does that have to come through Thor? Some of the settings lights don't work.

Thanks.

Better how?

Any Head unit like that jensen will have innards that are a within a tiny specification of one another when within $500 of each other.

That curiosity can be satisfied with a search of the Forum. There are multiple threads on replacing the Thor installed radio - it doesn't even have to be your model RV - they're just about all double-DIN installations in the dash with a backup camera input.

Searching will also provide answers about your "tablet" replacement and/or repair/battery replacement. Many threads on that as well.

Be aware that if you do a replacement there are two wiring harnesses that have to be connected. When I did a Jensen replacement for my old Jensen I had to buy an adapter to retrofit it. If you go with a different brand you'll need an adapter unless you want to do a bunch of manual rewiring.

Thanks, to the other question, my experience Jensen is bottom of the barrel and hate to pay for another one if I’m going to have to replace it.

My Jensen is OK but there may be better ones out there. Again be sure they have a wiring harness adapter kit.

I replaced the Jensen radio with a Kenwood. I discussed this with a tech from Crutchfield who, although he admitted he had no info about a Thor motorhome, was able to provide a few options based on what I wanted from the radio and my desired price range.

It was not 'plug & play' but the wire diagrams were easy to follow so I could re-do the harness connectors. I did need to add an adapter for the cameras. My story is here: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/kenwood-radio-camera-question-37304.html

I think I needed clarify more, I’m talking about the infotainment radio by the door entry and not the one in the cab. For mine, there is no screen in the coach Jensen, the model is JWM6A. Now the one in dash, is Fusion or has fusion software, would be nice for one that will sync with apple car play.

The confusion came from your first post and Thor:

Jenson replacement radio: 0388789 RADIO, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, DBL DIN, TOUCH SCREEN, BLUETOOTH, AM/FM

That is NOT the radio you now describe:

g522JMW6A-F.jpg

Which has no touchscreen but otherwise appears pretty capable. As it doesn't work, I think any device that fits in the space that has what you want should work. The replacement is:

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-aWurX...qVhCNZR3-kcGwGM2bPTHnYuKMpa99z9hoCYc8QAvD_BwE

But I'd pull yours out and check for power before ordering anything.

It is supposed to be a double-DIN form factor so you could even replace it with a dash type system.

That’s what Thor sent, didn’t think it was right as the radio up front doesn’t appear to be a jenson but I’ll double check.

The only concern was it has some alarm buttons and haven’t looked into that. I’ll check out your kenwood, want to find something that integrates with Waze on my phone. Thanks again for the responses!

OK, the confusion continues, or maybe I don't understand:

Why would you need to integrate Waze on an in RV entertainment radio/system that is not in the dash?

BTW, Waze integration is through Android Auto (and maybe Carplay for iPhones?). Unless you get an Android based radio system.

Op might want to go to her local stereo installer and let them listen to the op in person.
Then op needs to do exactly what they suggest and let them do the installation.

Interesting assumptions in this response. Good thing I'm not pronoun sensitive. (haha) But to respond, why spend $100 an hour and end up with more things to fix after getting it back.

My post was to try and meet others that may have the Citation 24SS and see if there are ideas I haven't ran across or thought about and started with the radio.

Also, without leading the conversation, I posted the way I did to see if anybody mentioned anything about an alarm which the original unit has buttons on the coach area head unit. Hasn't come up so assume not anything of concern pulling the other one out and figuring out a solution.

Shouldn't have shared what Thor sent as a part number

If you read the manual
(available here: https://www.lancecamper.com/docs/manuals/jensen_jwm6a_owners_manual.pdf)
You would see the "Alarm" feature is just like your nightstand alarm clock, nothing more. Wake to an alarm or music.

Not a feature to look for in today's cell phone society.

What else are you not telling us?

What else do i need to share about asking for ideas of what others did Jenson radio unit in the coach area? I hadn't paid attention to the head unit in the dash, was just focused on this unit and saw Jensen and as mentioned seems to be a cheap product. Seems like what I shouldn't have done is asked Thor parts support any questions.

Also, the head unit in the dash is actually a Fusion power by garmin, save that for another thread.

Thanks. I've had the unit for 5 days now, I've been through manuals to troubleshoot the Girard water heater than wasn't coming on, water pump not working, and the best one researching how to fix an oil leak that developed on the way home in the sprinter. Best part of that being on the phone and tracking the history is it was taken to a Mercedes Dealership, they pulled the EGr to clean it when it was in for service. The didn't put back the coolant hose in the mounts and for some reason they loosened the bottles on the Vacuum so 2 of those were missing causing the oil leak I've been tracking down. They are claiming they didn't do it when they were working around that area so it's either them or Camping world. Turns out nothing major. Between watching a 3 month old and all the above have been priorities.

Literally just tried to turn on the Jensen, doesn't work, the brand is about as cheap as it gets and assumed others had maybe had some cool replacements and just started a thread.

I guess the confusion is that we know the dash unit has nothing at all to do with any other receiver in the rv yet you involve this unit.

Seems cheap
Is not a reasoning we can reason.
Cheap how?
Non functional?
Esoterically?
Relatively inexpensive so you think it's unworthy?

Tell us exactly what you want without mentioning rv type or the dash unit.
Neither rv or dash unit is relevant.

Tell us what you want from your next head unit.(other than saving money by not paying for an expert install).

And for me personally since I may have densed out on this;
Did thor physically send you a radio head or did they simply supply you with a part number for a suggested replacement?
Do you physically have a unit in your hand to replace the unit you haven't a
performed any trouble shooting on and (it appears) have not read the manual on?
why call Thor at all?

We don't know 'won't come on'. Lights, sound, clock display, power to coach is turned on, what else doesn't work in that space, any attempt to look for a fuse, PUSHING THE RIGHT BUTTONS?

In case you have some recourse we might know of
Inherited
Private party purchased
Dealer purchase
Hired an inspector
Paid for pdi?

We're willing to help.
So far we can't.

Some say we're a bit rough with our questions.
Maybe those
Some
Can answer you better.

thanks everyone for the responses, seems the answer is just any double din head unit in the coach area and nothing directly updated made to replace units like this in RV's other than another Jensen.

Look at the title, 2018 Thor Citation 24ss.

Jensen = low end to me, something you go buy from a walmart, my opinion that that was fairly common knowledge in the car stereo industry,

Basic question about a head unit, more power, better quality sound. Sorry my fault didn't realize all that had to be specified asking about a something better quality than a Jensen stereo.

Thor claims to sell replacement parts, why not logically go to the place that built it to get replacement information????

Anyway, I'm good on this, got all I need to know from this thread. Can move on. Thanks again for the responses. Definitely shouldn't have shared that part number Thor sent that not sure where it came from because it's not what's in the dash.

Thanks again
