Tried to run the gen and engine for its monthly exercise. House voltage is 11.9 and In the red on the display I start the generator and it runs for about a minute and shuts off. shore power is unplugged. Worked perfectly fine the last 2 time i ran it. No error messages on the house control panel and both breakers are on. Pretty sure it has an automatic transfer switch. When I plug shore power(115 v20a maintenance power only.) in I hear it click .

That would be your converter trying to charge your dead house batteries on SP:

11.9 VDC is under 50% SOC which may be good enough to start the generator, but essentially dead batteries in the FLA world.

But that did not shut down your generator. Could have been low gas tank level or any number of other things. You said "No error messages on the house control panel" but AFAIK generator error messages come in flashing light codes on the generator start/stop switch.

Generator works, starts, charges, etc. Today, had difficulty getting it to stay running, still not sure why, im not that far along in the owners manuals yet. After about 4 tries, actually right after posing about it, I started it and it ran fine for 10 minutes, until i shut it iff.

I use a 115v extension cord just to maintain the batteries when it's sitting. unplugged shore power before starting the generator, I suppose the batteries could be getting weak, ill have to load test them. I did notice lights flashing on the gen switch, but it seemed steady with no apparent pattern indicating a code, I'll look into that as well. Thanks for the ideas.

10 minutes is nowhere near long enough for the monthly exercise. The Onan manual says half load for 2 hours.

Last 2 months i ran it for about an hr with 1 A/C unit running. Little cold for that right now
