Hello Everyone!

We just purchased our first TT, 2019 Sunset Trail 262BH. We'll be picking it up next week, and hope to camp in it before winter sets in. Wanted to drop in and say hello, and ask a question - Dealer is trying to sell me on adding a slide topper - I think the installed price was around $700 or so. What are folks thoughts on these? Necessary? nice to have? not needed?

Thanks

If camping in wooded rainy areas, then absolutely!
If camping regularly in windy areas, then NOPE, they'll drive you nuts....
IMHO they improve the appearance of the RV & help reduce the heat inside radiating from the thinly insulated slide tops when parked in the sun.

I would definitely recommend the slide out topper, it helps keep the rain, leaves, and direct sunlight off of the slide out roof.

Thanks All. Sounds like I should consider the slide topper. Might check to see if I can install it myself, though screwing something into my new TT seems a bit scary.

Welcome aboard and Happy Camping.
Toppers are a convenience; if you have the money and don't want to be climbing on the RV roof then make the purchase.
We have camper 10 summers without toppers. Seldom do I find any dangerous debris on top of the slides nor have we ever taken on water. We usually set in one site for 5.5 months and then I climb the ladder and check the slide roof before pulling out. That is something not everyone is willing to do. If I find sticks or twigs then it's time for sweeping the slide roof off.
I've also watched my fellow workers take in their slides and watched the ice and debris fall from their torn toppers and thought about how much the topper repairs would cost them.

They are very nice to have. You won't have to sweet off rain and leaves and it does help insulate the slides
