I want to replace existing plastic toilet with porcelain. The toilets I have seen will not fit because of the box/chase along the wall behind the toilet. The box/chase is 4 1/2" deep and 9" in height. I would like to know what is in that box/chase and if I can modify it to make the toilet fit? I know there is one 1/2" pex water supply line for the toilet. Thanks! I would appreciate any information. Randy

Just a guess - based on other MHs I have owned - is this 'box' under the toilet the wheel well?

You need one of these. Many available on the interweb.

I have had RVs with plastic toilets and RVs with porcelain toilets. My butt can't tell the difference in the bowls material only in the quality of the actual seat.

Hot and cold water supply lines.

A picture would help , I just added porcelain toilet elongated to my Daughters trailer for a bidet. Next to the toilet is the tub so that’s why there is fatter wall and I cut 2” wide of fat wall for new toilet. You can look on spec. sheet to see how much you need to cut different toilet have different distance from wall to pipe location. If your taking just some
Edge then probably all right depending on what’s on other side of the wall

Thanks everyone for helping. Its not the wheel well, but that was a good suggestion. I do have an inspection camera, but I didn't want to start drilling holes, but that is probably what I will do. The way they laid out the toilet flange and the toilet, there is not much room to do anything. I won't go into detail!

Look closely at the box. It may be easier to remove than drilling holes in it. You may also be able to see inside it from where the supply lines enter it in the lavatory cabinet.

On our class C the panels on the bottom of the toilet pedestal and shower are stapled on. Look closely. I GENTLY (pried with a screwdriver) removed the one at the shower base when I routed solar cables (I ran them down through the refrigerator vent) under the toilet base and shower. I used coated color matching deck screws to replace the panels.

Do you dimensions from wall to existing toilet bolts and a model # of the toilet you would like to use

So,
Why the switch?
Can't speak for the OP, but in our previous trailer we swapped out our original all plastic toilet for a porcelain one.

The bowl on the original was a two piece construction and at one point the inner seals failed. This allowed dirty water to enter the outer bowl and not flush, creating a wonderful smell that took us a couple days to find. Dometic knew it was an issue and supposedly fixed it in that model afterwards, but wouldn't warranty ours because it was over a year old. I dismantled the entire thing, re-sealed everything, and all was good for a while until the flush handle started leaking.

At that point I was done dealing with that one, and figured I'd go the porcelain route as a replacement because I was never really happy with the cheap "creaky" feel of the plastic one anyway. I hadn't replaced it up until that point simply because it worked, but honestly I wish I'd have done it from the beginning. The heavier one just "felt" better, even if functionally it served the same purpose.

I misread this. Thought you posted "My butt can't tell the difference in the bowels material." I think my bowels are mostly mucous membranes and muscle, with some connective tissue holding it all together.
