Our 2023 Challenger FH has an electrical issue.
The batteries got completely drained and now we don't have any battery power after they got charged.
The main power switch does not engage unless it is on shore power.
The engine will charge the batteries but will not allow me to engage the main power switch so not allowing me to start the generator.
At one point the mira display did show there might be a problem with the 2nd switch?
No lights or other appliances work unless the main switch is on.

any insides on what happened here?

Thanks for responding
Frans

There should be a cable from the house batteries running to a 100 amp breaker, then to the generator. If that breaker is tripped the generator won't crank - check the flag on the breaker. If the house batteries are charged, just turn the battery disconnect switch ON and everything on the DC side should work.

What is your battery voltage checked with a voltmeter?

Our 2023 Challenger FH has an electrical issue. 2022 or 2023??
The batteries got completely drained and now we don't have any battery power after they got charged. Which batteries? House or chassis? Or both?
The main power switch does not engage unless it is on shore power. Nope. The LED does NOT indicate the status of the Main Power switch
The engine will charge the batteries but will not allow me to engage the main power switch so not allowing me to start the generator. Again - which batteries.
At one point the mira display did show there might be a problem with the 2nd switch? What 2nd switch?
No lights or other appliances work unless the main switch is on. Because there is no House Battery power reaching the house DC buss.

Insides? No

And no insights either due to the vague and conflicting information in your post. Maybe try again with more specific information.

thank you for your comment.

breaker is fine and house (4) batteries are 6.4 volts each' (hooked up as 12 volt system)

Which breaker?

Add that to the list of other unanswered questions.

Sorry, we don't read minds very well here. But we have lotsa good info if you can make your information about your problem clearer.

Thor Challenger FH37 2022

Hi,

We are having problems with our electrical system.

The house batteries got completely drained at some point while the unit was in service.
The chassis battery system is all ok and charging and on this side everything is ok!

When we are on shore power it seems that everything works except the charging off the house batteries.
The control light by the main power switch is illuminated.

When we are disconnected from shore power we cannot turn on the main power switch to operated the lights and/or accessories.
The control light has a very low flash for just a split second but will not illuminate or turn on the power when toggling the switch.

The batteries are charged with an external charger.
Also since we can not turn on the main power switch, the chassis will not charge the house batteries or start the generator.

We can only start the generator when we use the emergency power switch.

At one point the mira display showed a problem with the number 2 switch???

Allright, now we're starting to percolate.

I can't help with the "mira display" and have no idea what "the number 2 switch" refers to. Maybe somebody with that system can chime in.

The "control light" does not show the status of the battery disconnect (Main Power Switch) latching relay. It just illuminates when there is power to the house DC buss: Either from the converter (when on SP) or the house batteries if the disconnect is shut (Main Power ON).

The latching relay gets control power from the house batteries themselves through 1 or 2 small (5 - 15) amp fuses at the latching relay (depends on which style latching relay you have).

There is a 50 amp DC breaker in the battery compartment that supplies the latching relay and house DC buss.

There is a 100 amp DC breaker in the battery compartment that supplies the leveling system and generator.

You should locate those breakers and verify they are not tripped. they look like:

The push button tests the trip function which flips the flag out. Pushing the flag back in resets it. The buttons and flags may be various colors.

You said "The control light has a very low flash for just a split second but will not illuminate or turn on the power when toggling the switch." which is interesting. Without that piece of information I would have said you really have dead house batteries or both of those DC breakers were tripped.

You also said "the chassis will not charge the house batteries " which I take to mean the alternator on the engine won't charge the house batteries. This function is independent of the Main Power Switch position.

So I think you have a very poor cable connection on the common ground cable of your battery bank, but I would check and clean all battery cable connections.

Battery Disconnect Switch Coil Voltage too low

Intellitec 01-00055-000 RV Motorhome Battery Disconnect Solenoid Relay (mpv) or similar disconnect switch. I had same problem. Switch was in open position and batteries were too low to let it switch to closed. I jumped the 12 volt charger side to the battery side and charged the batteries then took out the jumper.
