Hi,
We are having problems with our electrical system.
The house batteries got completely drained at some point while the unit was in service.
The chassis battery system is all ok and charging and on this side everything is ok!
When we are on shore power it seems that everything works except the charging off the house batteries.
The control light by the main power switch is illuminated.
When we are disconnected from shore power we cannot turn on the main power switch to operated the lights and/or accessories.
The control light has a very low flash for just a split second but will not illuminate or turn on the power when toggling the switch.
The batteries are charged with an external charger.
Also since we can not turn on the main power switch, the chassis will not charge the house batteries or start the generator.
We can only start the generator when we use the emergency power switch.
At one point the mira display showed a problem with the number 2 switch???
Allright, now we're starting to percolate.
I can't help with the "mira display" and have no idea what "the number 2 switch" refers to. Maybe somebody with that system can chime in.
The "control light" does not show the status of the battery disconnect (Main Power Switch) latching relay. It just illuminates when there is power to the house DC buss: Either from the converter (when on SP) or the house batteries if the disconnect is shut (Main Power ON).
The latching relay gets control power from the house batteries themselves through 1 or 2 small (5 - 15) amp fuses at the latching relay (depends on which style latching relay you have).
There is a 50 amp DC breaker in the battery compartment that supplies the latching relay and house DC buss.
There is a 100 amp DC breaker in the battery compartment that supplies the leveling system and generator.
You should locate those breakers and verify they are not tripped. they look like:
The push button tests the trip function which flips the flag out. Pushing the flag back in resets it. The buttons and flags may be various colors.
You said "The control light has a very low flash for just a split second but will not illuminate or turn on the power when toggling the switch." which is interesting. Without that piece of information I would have said you really have dead house batteries or both of those DC breakers were tripped.
You also said "the chassis will not charge the house batteries " which I take to mean the alternator on the engine won't charge the house batteries. This function is independent of the Main Power Switch position.
So I think you have a very poor cable connection on the common ground cable of your battery bank, but I would check and clean all battery cable connections.
